r.i.p john barry...

harp's in heaven must be working overtime this evening as legendary music composer john barry died yesterday, aged 77. for many, many years i've been a huge fan of his work and throughout the course of updating this blog have often posted to barry's iconic compositions. although his award-winning score for the film 'out of africa' rates highly, it was his epic soundtrack for the bond film 'goldfinger' that really rocked my socks...see what i mean HERE

its a man's world...

i just made this collage for a magazine and wrote an essay on the allure of a certain kind of man based upon mae west's famous quote "a hard man is difficult to find."

'keep it to yourself' by jenny le

i'm probably going to get a kick in the butt for this but hey, some rules were made to be broken. jenny le is a relatively famed name in fashion (she's the guru that runs operations behind-the-scenes at the notorious opening ceremony boutique here on the west coast of america). what many people don't realize is that she's a talented artist too (let's face it, retail only feeds your brain to a certain extent). check her new book 'keep it to yourself' - a sentiment i'm admittedly ignoring, but when a series of self-portraits look this good, how can a real friend resist? available from opening ceremony (ssshh!! just don't tell them i told you).
