i'm heading down under on the day of the oscars this time next week so no, there shall be no party coverage (globes one year, oscars the next, that's how i roll ;). alas i'm getting in early to blow the horn of hope for my three main oscar concerns this year, them being as follows:
if jane campion can't be nominated as best director for 'bright star' then fingers crossed for janet patterson whose costume design made me nuts with desire throughout this incredibly poignant film...
to the loveliest legend since orson welles, may tarantino rightfully be awarded best original screenplay for 'inglourious basterds'...
and to the woman whose going to make the men of hollywood beg for mercy at the click of a finger, bring it on kathryn bigelow!! here's hoping you will be the one to change the future of film for females (its payback time douchebag hollywood maggots!!)...

pettibon strikes again...
this is pretty cool news not to mention yet another reason why i have been feeling the love for austria in more ways than one of late. L.A-based artist raymond pettibon will be the 2010 recipient of the oskar kokoschka prize marked by an official ceremony at the university for applied arts in vienna on March 1st. the prize has been awarded to an outstanding contemporary artist (every two years) by the austrian government since 1981 and is austria's highest-endowed prize for visual art. below, pettibon exemplifies why he is the man of the moment via 'no title (lived, loved, wasted,) 1998', and also, a snapshot of pettibon (left) with socal mates tony alva and katy rodriguez snapped in 2007, just a few weeks after i arrived in los angeles.

james frey: so hip it hurts...
controversial author james frey is seriously marching to the beat of his own drum in more ways than one. i'm loving today's report by page six on his latest conquests. i snapped this shot of him last year at a gallery opening in los angeles as he was flanked by photographers trying their best to get a golden shot of his friend, artist richard prince. nobody really gave frey the time of day let alone expressed any kind of desire to take his photo. but i did. now read THIS
